MAINE RIVER GUIDE TRAINING COURSE
CLASS 1 = May 16 – may 24, 2025
CLASS 2 = may 30 – June 7, 2025
The Three Rivers Maine River Guide Training Course is an eight-day program with very high standards. Guide Training is an experience that our professional guide staff holds near and dear to our hearts.
This course is designed to make all dedicated participants proficient in all the necessary skills to be a safe, knowledgeable, and entertaining Registered Maine River Guide. These areas of training include boatmanship, river geography, hydrology, rescue techniques, guest service, risk management, equipment care, outdoor trip logistics, and more.
All trainees must have current Basic First Aid and CPR or higher certification previous to the start of training. Every year Three Rivers hosts a Basic First Aid Course which is available for all trainees – dates for CPR Training are TBD.
Maine River Guide Training training is physically and mentally demanding. For many people, this will be one of the hardest weeks of their life – and that’s just one of the many reasons becoming a Maine River Guide is such a rewarding experience.
If you’d like to get a better understanding of what your training will be like, you can read this blog written by one of our 2020 Guide Trainees. Or you can watch our 2023 Guide Trainee Testimonials video and the 2023 Training Highlight video.
Maine River Guide Trainees have responsibilities to themselves and others while training. Whitewater boating has inherent risks and hazards. All trainees will be required to sign a release of liability that indemnifies Three Rivers Whitewater Inc. from any claim. Trainees assume all risks related with training.
For this year’s Maine River Guide Training course the fee is $300 which is due 30 days prior to the start of training. Our newest payment option for the training class is a train for trade option. This requires a $200 deposit and two days guiding unpaid once you obtain your guide’s license. Transmission of this application does not guarantee you a spot in this program. All applicants may be required to attend an interview before acceptance.
If you have questions, please call 1-207-663-2104 and ask for Jimmy Doria, River Muise, or Sean MacCarthy.
