How long have you worked in the Outdoor Industry?
This is my first year working in the outdoor industry!
What is your origin story working for Three Rivers Whitewater?
I love getting into the outdoors anyway I can and I also love trying new activities. I have experience with rock climbing, ice climbing, skiing, and hiking, but I had never been whitewater rafting before this summer. I am currently in school studying marketing and communications, and Three Rivers has an awesome marketing internship program! I found the application online and applied because I didn’t want to spend my summer sitting in an office. Best decision I ever made!
What do you love most about being a Maine River Guide?
Getting to take people down the river and sharing that experience with them! It’s really special to be able to be a part of some really special moments. For a lot of people, rafting might be something on their bucket list or a once in a lifetime adventure and it’s cool to be a part of that. It also makes me feel like a badass!
What is your favorite rapid to guide in Maine?
My favorite rapid to guide is Magic Falls Rapid. Magic Falls is the biggest class IV rapid on the Kennebec River and It was an area where I struggled during guide training. Now that I’ve got it down, it’s grown to be my favorite rapid on the river! I love the roller coaster feeling of dropping into Magic Hole.
What is your favorite hike in Maine?
This summer is my first time being in Maine so I haven’t done a ton of hiking yet. Out of the hikes I’ve done my favorite would either be Big Moose Mountain near Greenville or Mosquito Mountain at sunset!
What do you enjoy doing when not working?
On my days off I enjoy getting on the river with my friends whether it be in a raft, a ducky, or bodyboarding. I also love to go swimming, hiking, and driving around to look for moose!
Favorite experience on the river?
Even though this is my first rafting season there have been some pretty memorable moments! Getting to raft some highwater on the Kennebec at 12,000 CFS and the Dead River at 10,000 CFS was pretty sweet but my #1 favorite experience was getting to guide my family down the Kennebec. Whitewater rafting was on my dad’s bucket list so it was really special to get to take him, my mom, and my brothers down the river!
