Maine Whitewater Rafting
A True Whitewater Rafting Adventure!
Whitewater rafting in Maine is some of the best rafting that can be found anywhere in the United States (or the World!). Choose from three major rivers: The Kennebec, The Dead and The Penobscot as well as Canada Falls and Seboomook. These whitewater rivers are all in pristine wilderness settings and are dam controlled for guaranteed high water releases throughout the rafting season.
The Kennebec is Maine’s most popular river for whitewater rafting because it is appropriate for a wide variety of groups. The minimum age is 10 years old to raft the upper Kennebec Gorge. Arrangements for younger participants can be made for them to join the trip for second half which is the less rigorous portion of the trip. The Kennebec runs at high flows 7 days a week and is always a good and fun run. Our one day whitewater rafting trip on the Kennebec is a world class, 12 mile wilderness experience that includes a homemade BBQ. When rafting the Kennebec you will be enjoying the amenities at The Forks Outdoor Fun Resort.
Are you looking for an easy and relaxing second day activity? Then check out our River Tubing rentals! Our newly expanded fleet of high quality river tubes offers the perfect platform for a lazy afternoon full of fun in the sun!

Rafting on The Penobscot River is one of the most thrilling experiences that you can have in Maine! The Penobscot is Maine’s true Class V river and we run rafting trips 7 days per week – all summer long! The Penobscot features thrilling rapids like Exterminator, The Cribworks, and Nesowadenahunk Falls. This 13 mile trip has a minimum age of 14 years old. The Penobscot rafting adventure is full of incredible views of Mount Katahdin, the highest peak in Maine, and Baxter State Park. It’s not uncommon for us to see a variety of wildlife during these trips; including moose, deer, bald eagles, beaver, otters, loons, ducks and much more. This river is also the only place in the United States where you can combine a Class V rafting adventure with the ultimate thrill of Skydiving through our partners at Jump and Raft!. When rafting The Penobscot River or skydiving with Jump and Raft you will be enjoying the amenities at The Penobscot Outpost.

Rafting on The Dead River boasts the most continuous whitewater anywhere in the east. Class III and IV rapids are featured on this 16 mile trip. The Dead River only has high water releases on specific dates during the rafting season. These releases are always special events and provide us with some of our favorite highlights of the summer! The suggested minimum age is 12. While it doesn’t run much during the middle of the summer, the Dead River is the best spring whitewater rafting in Maine and also makes a beautiful fall rafting trip with Maine’s foliage season. The Dead River also offers family rafting great for small children during the summer on Dead River Recreational Releases where you can conquer the Dead in inflatable kayaks. When rafting The Dead River you will be enjoying the amenities at The Forks Outdoor Fun Resort.
