How long have you worked in the Outdoor Industry?
I’ve worked in various parts of the outdoor recreation industry for around 6 years.
What is your origin story working for Three Rivers Whitewater?
It was August of 2021, feeling heartbroken and lost in the world, my homie called me up and said, “We’re rafting in 4 days. You in or you out, dawg?”
“I’ll be there!” I replied.
*4 days later*
I drove to Millinocket, Maine – the Magic City. When I arrived, we shoveled pasta salad down our throats while listening to the safety speech. We rafted, Drew Strongwood was my guide. It ignited my passion for rafting. Drew Strongwood told me all about training and how to become a Maine Guide. 7 months later I found myself sitting in the Boatman’s Bar and Grill surrounded by dirtbags and I never looked back.
What do you love most about being a Maine River Guide?
Waking up in the woods, walking barefoot down a trail, showing up to work in sandals, and getting to take people from far and wide, rafting down my favorite river every day!
What is your favorite rapid to guide in Maine?
Mile long rapid on the Dead River. There’s a wave at the end of this mile long stretch of technical whitewater called F.B.I, short for Full Body Impact. It’s mind blowing.
What is your favorite hike in Maine?
I love hiking into Magic Falls Rapid on the Kennebec to see the water levels come up and watching how the river changes. After that watching all the boaters come through and get absolutely blown up.
What do you enjoy doing when not working?
Rafting.
Favorite experience on the river?
My last guided run during my level 1 guide training. I did everything almost good enough and it made me feel confident as a whitewater Maine guide.
