How long have you worked in the Outdoor Industry?
This is my first job in the outdoor industry so it has only been a couple months since I started working for Three Rivers in the summer of 2021.
What is your origin story working for Three Rivers Whitewater?
I have been private boating for 21 years and this is my first summer with no responsibilities so I was excited to finally go full time into rafting rather than being a weekend warrior.
What do you love most about being a Maine River Guide?
Showing nervous guests the joy and thrill of big waves and whitewater rafting by getting them through their nerves and uncertainties of water.
What is your favorite rapid to guide in Maine?
My favorite river to guide is all of them; they’re all equal in my mind. But the Kennebec overnight is by far my favorite trip to be a part of and guide guests through, it is the ultimate experience. My favorite rapid is the Crib Works at the Penobscot River because of the precision required and the technicality of the line.
What is your favorite hike in Maine?
Into Chimney Pond, up Cathedral, across Knife’s Edge and down Helon Taylor at Katahdin.
What do you enjoy doing when not working?
I enjoy woodworking furniture and whitewater kayaking.
Favorite experience on the river?
My grandfather was a guide here in Maine so I was able to see the Kennebec River for the first time when I was 8-years-old.
