The Penobscot River, a tough class V river, has chutes, drops, and large holes that challenge both guide and guest alike in exciting rapids like Exterminator, Cribworks, and the huge Nesowdnehunk Falls. Combine this with the spectacular Ripogenus Gorge, a scrumptious river lunch and great views of Mt. Katahdin, and this Maine rafting trip will be one you will remember for a lifetime! These exciting river trips are run from our New Penobscot Outpost Resort just outside the town of Millinocket. This 26-acre facility is "Home to Serious Fun" and perfectly set up for the Ultimate Class V Experience. Amenities start with comfortable lodging in our unique Yurts, Cabin Tents, and of course good old fashioned camping. This fun spot also has it's own Boatman's Bar and Grill that offers the best food and nightlife in Millinocket. Penobscot River Overnights - Two Days of Class V Action and a Night of Remote Camping Beside The Penobscot River
You'll get a leisurely start at our Penobscot Outpost where you will have a hearty breakfast, pack your gear, and head for the river. Your trip will begin at McKay Station in Ripogenous Gorge, where you will challenge the upper Penobscot, paddling hard to successfully navigate Exterminator, The Staircase, Crib Works and Big A. This two day adventure gives you and your guides ample time to surf all the best holes, and to stop and enjoy all the sites. Snacks and drinks are always provided to make sure you are comfortable and have the energy to take on the rapids.
After this day of excitement, you will settle into your campsite at Salmon point, where you will be enjoying one of the most pristine and beautiful places the northeast has to offer. Mt. Katahdin will be in full view as you relax by the fire as your guides prepare an authentic outdoor barbecue to fill you up and tantalize the taste buds of any paddler.
After a restful night's sleep by the rivers edge, you will awake to camp coffee and another hearty breakfast, pack up camp, and head on down the river for some more class V action. You will enjoy another riverside lunch and return to the Penobscot Outpost. This is not just any trip, it is experience that you will never forget!

Tents, Sleeping Pads, All food & snacks, drinks & full meals, river gear, shuttle to and from all destinations, dry bags for your personal gear.
You need to bring:
Sleeping bag, warm clothing, sturdy footwear and your unique sense of adventure and fun!!

Hidden deep within the North woods of Maine, the beautiful chute drop Seboomook River offers 5-foot drops, surf holes, and waves. A wide variety of options (including easy walk-arounds) accommodate a full range of paddling skills. Wildlife abounds - it's the Guides' Choice!
Special boating release on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend of 1,500 cfs.


Canada Falls Section Penobscot River
Located in the remote wilderness of northern Maine Canada Falls section of the South Branch of the Penobscot River is our newest trip offering for those of you looking for the next great adventure! This 3.5 mile section features class IV+ and class V rapids such as The Slide, Upper & Lower Split Decision and Megahole with ledge drops forming these rapids. This section is run twice and a paddler's picnic lunch is provided.
Available on July 25th (900 cfs) and August 22nd (750 cfs) only. Due to the remote location of this section of river, we must have a minimum group size of 6 people to run this trip.
Wetsuits
We have a collection of the finest suits available; they are designed to be attractive, comfortable and functional to enhance all of your river experiences. Wetsuits are typically needed only during the Spring Rafting Season.
Wetsuit rentals are always available on any of our river trips. Three Rivers holds the right to require our guests to wear wetsuits on the Pennobscot River should conditions apply. Rentals are $15.00 per day. If you have your own wetsuit, you're welcome to bring it along.
